Albert Joseph Moore was an English painter from York. His paintings belong to the artistic movement of Academicism, or academic art, while his later paintings portray some Neoclassical traits. Moore inherited his talent for painting from his father William, a well-known portrait painter. In addition to painting, Moore was also involved in the design of wallpaper and tiles, stained glass, and he even worked as a church mural painter. The main motifs in his paintings are the female figures, predominantly in the foreground, while the background focuses on floral themes and elaborate draperies. One example of this style from Moore is the painting entitled "Canaries.”
