ARTHUR HUGHES
Arthur Hughes was a British painter from London. His paintings belong to the artistic movement of Romanticism. In addition to painting, he enjoyed doing illustrations. During his lifetime, Hughes made 700 paintings and drawings, along with over 750 book illustrations. When he was only 17, his first painting, called "Musidora Bathing,” was hung at the Royal Academy. This painting affirmed his art and presented an authentic style of glowing, almost magical coloring. Hughes' most famous artworks depict female figures, including "Ophelia," "Mariana at the Window," and "April Love.” Interestingly, the girl who was his model for "April Love" became his life companion.
