Berthe Morisot - Canvas Prints

BERTHE MORISOT - Canvas Prints

Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot, or simply Morisot, was a French Impressionist painter during the late 1800’s. She became interested in art and painting early in life but also had an interest in architecture. She is known for her portrait work, consisting mostly of women and children of the times. Her paintings “The Cradle” and “The Child in the Rose Garden” are stand outs of her Impressionist style. Later in her life, Morisot began working “en plein air” like many of her Impressionist colleagues, including Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. She experimented with color variety, different mediums such as watercolor and pastel, and studied a multitude of subjects for her paintings. Interestingly, Morisot was married to Eugène Manet who was the brother of the acclaimed Édouard Manet, a Modernist painter.
