CAREL FABRITIUS - Canvas Prints
Carel Fabritius was a Dutch painter from Delft in the Netherlands. He was a part of the Delft School, which was best known for genre-painting (themes of simple, domesticated life) during the Dutch Golden Age. Fabritius studied under Rembrandt and even worked in his studio in Amsterdam, which became important to the development of his later artistic style. Fabritius experimented with the use of perspective, lighting, and texture in his works, and was also interested in painting studies of the human form. The pieces “Mercury and Aglauros,” “A View of Delft,” and “Young Man in a Fur Cap” all showcase Fabritius’s analysis of these artistic subjects.
