CARL FREDERIK AAGAARD
Carl Frederik Aagaard was a Danish painter from Odense. He was primarily a landscape painter, but also had an interest in etching and drawing on wood, as his brother was an established woodcutter. Aagaard is considered a Classical Academic artist, and his landscapes showcase a dynamic color range, brilliant light, and tedious brush strokes that fully capture the scene. Some of his well-known works include “Summer Day at Møns Klint” and “Autumn Morning at Jægersborg Dyrehave,” which was eventually purchased by the National Gallery of Denmark. Interestingly, Aagaard’s home was designed by famous architect Vilhelm Dahlerup. The house was built from the stones of the original Royal Danish Theater, which was considered a ruin at the time. Therefore, Aagaard’s home was declared a cultural monument.
