Charles Demuth - Canvas Prints
Charles Henry Buckius Demuth was an American watercolorist and oil painter who specialized in Precisionism, a movement that emphasized sharp lines and geometric shapes. Demuth trained nuder Thomas Anshutz and William Merritt Chase at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He made several trips to Europe to study and evolve his art, greatly influenced by Cubist artists that would become apparent in his works. He started with illustrative art and gradually moved away from it; his first watercolor series immediately put him on top of the watercolorists ranks. Demuth also painted advertisements and billboards. His most notable works are his poster portraits, such as I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold.
