CHARLES MARION RUSSELL - Canvas Prints

Charles Marion Russell, sometimes known as “Kid” Russell, was an American Romantic artist, storyteller, and author. Most well-known for depicting the landscapes of the American Old West, Russell created over 2,000 paintings of Western scenes in his lifetime. These scenes included cowboys, animal wranglers, Native Americans, and general “cowboy life” in late 19th century America. He was accepted by the Kainai Nation, or Blackfeet Native Americans, and attributed his knowledge of Native culture to his time with them. In addition to painting, Russell was also a skilled sculptor, often sculpting with bronze or wax, and he experimented using watercolors and oil paints. His work has left an impact in pop culture, and there have been countless artworks, stories, poems, even ships, named as a tribute to Russell. His most famous works include “The Buffalo Hunt,” “When Blackfoot and Sioux Meet,” “Buccaroos,” and “When the Land Belonged to God.”
