DELPHIN ENJOLRAS
Delphin Enjolras was a French Academic painter from Coucouron. He was known to paint mostly with oils, but also experimented with using pastels and watercolors on canvas. His beginnings were with landscape painting, but he soon realized that he was drawn to painting women and the female form. Enjolras painted women in quiet scenes, such as reading or sewing, and his subjects were almost always lit by soft table lamps. His delicate use of lighting is what made his works authentic and recognizable. Some famous artworks by Enjolras include “By the Piano” and “Elegant Ladies Taking Tea.”
