EDMUND BLAIR LEIGHTON
Edmund Blair Leighton was an English Romantic painter from London. At the age of 15, Leighton left school to study art and his early illustrative works were published by Cassell’s Magazine. His first oil on canvas painting, “A Flaw in the Title,” was presented at the Royal Academy in 1874. After the success of these publications, Leighton shifted his artistic focus to painting scenes from the historic Regency period in England, as well as medieval scenes. Some of his most significant works include “The Queen Kisses the Sleeping Poet,” “The Accolade,” “My Next-Door Neighbor,” and “Old Times.”
