EDWARD HENRY POTTHAST
Edward Henry Potthast was an American Impressionist painter from Cincinnati, Ohio. He began studying art at a young age and would go on to work as a magazine illustrator and lithographer. At age 39, Potthast sold one of his paintings to the Cincinnati Museum of Art, which encouraged him to create art full-time. Potthast settled in New York City and began painting Impressionist beach scenes, even traveling up to New England to paint along the coast. Potthast’s color palette is bright and bold, perfect for a sunny, cheery beach landscape.
