Edward William Cooke - Canvas Prints

Edward William Cooke - Canvas Prints

19th century English draughtsman Edward William Cooke is best known for his marine and botanical art. He depicted river and coastal scenes, demonstrating a mastery over oil paints and watercolor. Born in London, Cooke was the second of eleven children. His father was an engraver and print publisher. Cooke was educated at Grove House School in Essex and began his artistic training with his father, uncle, and other family friends. He better developed his marine art under Clarkson Stanfield. Painters never stop learning, and that’s what Cooke did: he was constantly on the lookout for new knowledge, techniques, and influences. His prestige grew enough to have exhibits at the Royal Academy, elected an Associate and later a Royal Academician in proceeding years.
