Frederic Remington

FREDERIC REMINGTON

Frederic Remington was an American artist from Canton, New York. He was a painter, illustrator, and sculptor, best known for his depictions of life in the American Old West. He is noted for his tonal use of light, and sometimes Impressionist-style brush work. Most of the scenes Remington painted depict cowboys and their horses in motion, which was a unique perspective for the time. He also painted Native Americans and United States Calvary. Some of Remington’s most recognized works include “Aiding a Comrade,” “A Dash for the Timber,” and “Stampede.”
