GEORGE CALEB BINGHAM - Canvas Prints
George Caleb Bingham was an American politician and artist originally from Virginia. After moving to Missouri, he was an elected delegate who pushed against the expansion of slavery. He would later shift his focus to painting, combining his talent with his passion for politics. Bingham often painted public scenes centered around local governmental affairs, such as “The County Election,” and “The Verdict of the People.” He called this the Election Series. Later, he would paint fur traders on the Missouri River. These paintings portray Luminist river scenes, with high contrast and bright colors.
