GEORGE FREDERIC WATTS - Canvas Prints
George Frederic Watts was a British artist from Middlesex, England. He was primarily a painter and a part of the Symbolism movement. He drew inspiration from historical and biblical allegories, and his paintings often possessed a fantastical motif. Watts was also very much influenced by Dante Rossetti, an Italian painter known for using rich colors and heavy tones. These themes are evident upon viewing Watts’s later works of classic literary characters. Notable paintings by Watts include “Fata Morgana,” “The Wounded Heron,” and his biggest sculptural piece, “Physical Energy.”
