GEORGES LEMMEN
Georges Lemmen was a Belgian Neo-Impressionist painter during the mid-19th century. He was a prominent member of Les XX, a small collective of Belgian artists, and began showcasing his works with the group on an annual basis. Although he was a Neo-Impressionist, Lemmen’s paintings also evoke themes and techniques from other movements. His paintings “Girl with Doll” and “Portrait of Mme. Lemmen” display Pointillism qualities through their cube-like brush strokes. “The Beach at Heist” is another strong example of Lemmen’s technique.
