GIOVANNI CIMABUE - Canvas Prints
Giovanni Cimabue, also known as Cenni di Pepo, was an Italian painter and mosaic artist during the Proto-Renaissance in Florence. He was one of the first great artists to stylistically break away from the Byzantine standards of the time. Cimabue was noted for his ability to portray figures that looked more realistic and proportionate, which highlighted the religious themes in his paintings and frescos. During his time, Cimabue was commissioned to complete several panel paintings, including “The Flagellation of Christ,” and “Castelfiorentino Madonna.”
