Henri Fantin-Latour

HENRI FANTIN-LATOUR

Henri Fantin-Latour was a French artist from Grenoble. His works belong to the Realism and Symbolism movements. Fantin-Latour was a skilled lithographer and painter best known for his flower paintings and group portraits of acclaimed artists. Landscape painter Edwin Edwards and Fantin-Latour’s colleague, Édouard Manet, are among some of the artists who sat for his portrait series. Fantin-Latour also created several Impressionist still life paintings and self-portraits, in addition to his Realist flower paintings. Notable works from this series include “White Roses,” “Still Life with Flowers and Fruit,” and “Peonies.”
