HILMA AF KLINT
Hilma af Klint was a Swedish artist from Stockholm. An abstract painter and mystic, Klint’s works were inspired by spirituality, philosophy, Theosophy, and paranormal themes. She was considered the predecessor of the Modernism era of the early 20th century. Her paintings were often symbolic and featured geometrical elements, like spirals. Spirals are a sign of forward movement and progression, which is a motif that is heavily touched on in Klint’s abstract works. Famous works by Klint include “The Swan, No.1,” “The Dove, No. 1,” and “Altarpiece.”
