ILYA REPIN - Canvas Prints
Ilya Repin was a Ukrainian artist from Chuhuiv. He was a Realist painter and one of the most influential artistic figures of 19th century Ukraine. Repin was first known for his portrait work depicting ordinary citizens as well as figures from science, literature, and the Russian elite. One of Repin’s most famous portraits is of the great Russian author, Leo Tolstoy. Repin also gained recognition for his portrayal of barge haulers working along the Volga River. His large-scale painting “Barge Haulers on the Volga” earned him commissions from nobility like the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich.
