Ivan Fedorovich Choultse

IVAN FEDOROVICH CHOULTSE

Ivan Fedorovich Choultse was a Russian artist from St. Petersburg. His works belong to the Realism movement. Choultse was inspired by nature, especially water and snow, and preferred to paint landscapes of wintery scenes. He would travel around Europe to sketch and paint different landscapes, even traveling to Spitzbergen to paint the arctic scenery. Choultse is best remembered for his Winter Sunset series and moon-lit landscapes like “On the Banks of Twilight” and “Sevanavank Monastery on Lake Sevan.”
