Jacopo Robusti - Tintoretto - Canvas Prints

JACOPO ROBUSTI - TINTORETTO - Canvas Prints

Jacopo Robusti, best-known as Tintoretto, was an Italian painter from Venice. He was a prominent figure of the Venetian School during the Italian Renaissance. Tintoretto’s works feature dramatic, theatrical compositions centered on religious themes. His depiction of the “Last Supper” was revolutionary due to its unique asymmetrical perspective and Mannerist qualities. Among Tintoretto’s other significant works are “Finding the Body of St. Mark,” “Recovery of the Corpse of St. Mark,” “Paradiso,” and “The Miracle of St. Mark Freeing the Slave.” Tintoretto influenced the importance of perspective presentation and architectural expression in painting. Interestingly, his father, painter Giovanni Battista Robusti, had a great influence on his son and surrounded him with paints and brushes from an early age. He gave Jacopo the nickname Tintoretto, which means “little dyer.”
