JAMES TISSOT - Canvas Prints
James Tissot was a French artist born in Nantes. He was a successful painter and illustrator whose works belong to the Realism movement. Tissot worked as a portrait artist at the beginning of his career painting elegantly dressed, high-society women. “On the Thames” and “A Woman of Ambition” are some standout works from this period. Tissot was also inspired by the Japonism movement, as well as Japanese culture and fashion. In his later career, Tissot would shift his artistic focus to painting biblical figures. He created a series of 365 gouache illustrations depicting the life of Christ which received strong praise.
