Jan Brueghel The Elder - Canvas Prints

JAN BRUEGHEL THE ELDER - Canvas Prints

Jan Brueghel the Elder, son of Renaissance painter Pieter Brueghel, was a Flemish artist and draughtsman from Brussels. His works belong to the Baroque era. He was nicknamed “Velvet,” “Flower,” and “Paradise” Brueghel due to these motifs he often depicted in his paintings. Brueghel was famous for his genre painting of still life images of flowers and landscapes. Later, Brueghel would move on to painting biblical and religious themes. "Wreath with Virgin and Child and Two Angels" and "Festoon of Flowers and Fruits and Cherubs" are two prominent works from this time in Brueghel’s career. Interestingly, Brueghel was a close colleague of Paul Rubens, another Flemish Baroque painter, and the two would often collaborate.
