JOHANN BAPTIST HOFNER - Canvas Prints
Johann Baptist Hofner was a German painter from Aresing. He was an animal painter, and his detailed works belong to the Realism movement. Hofner, along with his colleague Franz von Lenbach, founded the Aresinger Artists Colony in 1856 to begin exhibiting their works. Hofner was considered one of the most significant animal painters of his time, especially in painting domestic animals, but he was also inspired by rural scenes and portraits of peasants. "Young Shepherdess" is considered Hofner’s most influential masterpiece.
