JOHN PETTIE
John Pettie was a Scottish painter from Edinburgh. His paintings belong to the Romanticism movement: characterized by bright colors and pronounced contrasts, creating a dynamic composition. He is best-known for his portrait paintings, both group and individual. Among these, "Jacobites,” "Two Strings To Her Bow," and "Disbanded" are highlighted. Pettie also created illustrations for books such as “Poetry for the Young” and “Postman’s Bag.” These were collaborations between Pettie and his colleagues, William McTaggart, and John MacWhirter.
