JULES BRETON
Jules Adolphe Aimé Louis Breton, or simply Jules Breton, was a French artist from Courrières. He was a Realist painter who was inspired by historical themes, as seen in his works entitled "Saint Piat preaching in Gaul then" and "Misery and Despair." Breton was also fascinated by rural village life. His works often portray farmhands and peasants working in fields during harvest season. "The Reapers,” "Le Matin,” "Summer," and "The Gleaners" are memorable pieces from Breton.
