LOUIS LE NAIN
Louis Le Nain was a French artist from Laon. He was a 17th century Baroque style painter, along with his brothers, Antoine and Matthieu Le Lain. Louis’s artistic focus was on portraiture. He painted ordinary people in their everyday surroundings, with strong use of color and dramatic contrasts. “Small Card Players,” “The Well,” and “The Artist’s Studio” are all exemplary works by Louis Le Nain.
