LUKE FILDES - Canvas Prints
Luke Fildes was a British artist from Liverpool. His works belong to the Social Realism movement. Fildes was a painter and illustrator and was noted for his portraiture work. He created group portraits derived from the everyday situations of poor and marginalized families. Fildes often portrayed pain, suffering, and the discomfort felt by these families, as he had a great interest in social justice issues. Among his most important artworks are “Applicants for Admission to a Casual Ward,” "Motherless,” "Widower," and "Doctor." Fildes wanted to convey a sense of uncertainty to his viewers so that these social issues might be brought to light.
