Max Liebermann - Canvas Prints

MAX LIEBERMANN - Canvas Prints

Max Liebermann was a Jewish-German artist from Berlin. He was a central figure of the Impressionism movement. Liebermann was known for his portrayal of bourgeois life; depicting women working, and leisure scenes from his garden. He veered away from religious subject matter in his paintings due to his Jewish faith, and the immense tension felt by the Jewish community during this time in Germany. Later in his career, Liebermann began experimenting with the human form and portraiture. He was one of the few artists who had the privilege of painting a portrait of the celebrated physicist, Albert Einstein. "Beer Garden in Munich,” "Dune near Noordwijk with Child," and "Swimming Boys" are some of Liebermann’s most notable works.
