
OGATA KORIN
Ogata Korin was a Japanese artist from Kyoto. His artworks belong to the Rinpa School of Japanese painting. Korin was a painter, illustrator, and textile designer. He was inspired by nature, landscapes, botany, and even exotic birds. Korin is most notably remembered for his byōbu paintings, or folding screen paintings, featuring flowers and various plants. Significant works by Korin include the byōbu paintings “Irises,” “Red and White Plum Blossoms,” and “Wind God and Thunder God.”
