Philip Wilson Steer was a British artist from Birkenhead. He was an Impressionist painter mostly known for his landscape and maritime scene paintings. His painting entitled “Poole Harbour” was especially noted for Steer’s use of Impressionist brush style to create atmospheric effects. Steer was also inspired by figure painting and portraiture. "Walberswick, Children Paddling,” "Boulogne Sands, Children Shrimping," and "Girls Running, Walberswick Pier" are just some of his most prominent artworks.
