PIERRE AUGUSTE COT

Pierre Auguste Cot was a French painter from Bédarieux. His works belong to the Academic Classicism movement. He was inspired by the human form and specialized in portrait work. Cot wanted to incorporate emotional elements into his paintings and would often depict themes of young love. The paintings “Storm” and “Spring” are important works from Cot that demonstrate this theme. Cot won various awards and medals during his lifetime and was also proclaimed a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
