Antonio di Puccio Pisano, known as Pisanello, was an Italian artist from Pisa. He was a central figure in the Italian Renaissance and Quattrocento period. Pisanello found inspiration in historical and religious events, he was a portrait artist and genre-painter of animals. "Apparition of the Virgin to St. Anthony Abbot and George,” "Leonello d'Este," and "Princess of the House of Este" are some of his most compelling Renaissance works.
