RICHARD PARKES BONINGTON
Richard Parkes Bonington was a British artist from Nottingham. He was a Romantic painter specializing in landscapes. Early in his career, Bonington moved to France and began sketching the Parisian countryside. He experimented with watercolors and oils, and eventually moved on to lithography. Bonington was inspired by coastal scenes, cityscapes, and the different lighting effects. "River Scene in France,” "Boats by the Normandy Shore," and " Boat Beached in a Port at Low Tide" are some of his prominent paintings. Bonington died at age 25 from tuberculosis, but he is considered one of the most influential British artists to this day.
