SYDENHAM EDWARDS
Sydenham Edwards was a Welsh artist from Usk, Wales. He was a prominent natural history illustrator and spent some of his career illustrating the common dog breeds of Britain. Edwards made many illustrations featuring plants, flowers, and exotic birds. “Hyacinth Macaw” is one of Edwards’s notable bird illustrations due to its deep royal blue coloring. Edwards produced over 1,7000 watercolors for Botanical Magazine and established himself as one of the best botanical illustrators of his time. “Banksia ericifolia,” “Nicotiana alata,” and “Clinanthus incarnatus” are all prime examples of Edwards’s contribution to the arts and science.
