THEOPHILE STEINLEN - Canvas Prints
French-Swiss Art Nouveau painter and printmaker Theophile Steinlen was obsessed with cats. He drew, painted, and sculpted cats. His house became a meeting place for cats of every nearby neighborhood! Cats became a sort of signature and easily the most notable feature in his art. Steinlen’s career evolved from selling cat drawings for food, to commissions for poster arts, meaning he at least found monetary success in his lifetime, something that other famous deceased artists cannot claim. He studied philosophy young, got a job as a textile, and moved to an artist community in Paris where he established himself as an artist.
