
WALTER UFER
Walter Ufer was an American-German artist from Huckeswagen, based in Taos, New Mexico. Ufer was an established genre-painter and lithographer who mostly portrayed scenes from Native American life. Specifically, he was associated with the culture and customs of Pueblo natives. His works gained recognition in the early 1920s. Ufer was praised for his authentic representation of the native community and made lifelong friendships with members of the tribe. “Bob Abbott and His Assistant,” “Garden Makers,” and “Jim” are all standout works from Ufer.
