WILLEM HEDA - Canvas Prints
Willem Claesz Heda, or simply Willem Heda, was a Dutch artist from Haarlem. He was a Baroque-style painter during the Dutch Golden Age. Heda was a skilled genre-painter and portraitist but would later move on to exclusively creating still life works. He was inspired by the simplicity of foods and painted bread, cheese, fruits, oysters, and assorted sweets. Half-peeled lemons were also used in his works as a type of artistamp. Heda included glassware and metal dishes to the foreground of his paintings, which created a unique contrast. “Still Life with Gilt Goblet,” “Breakfast,” and “The Blackcurrant Pie” are standout still life paintings from Heda.
