William Trost Richards was an American painter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His works belong to the Pre-Raphaelite movement, and he was a member of the famed Hudson River School. Richards specialized in landscape painting and was extremely meticulous in capturing his scenes. He found inspiration in forests and coastal settings, as seen in pieces like “Rainbow,” “White Mountain,” and “Seascape with Distant Lighthouse.” Richards lived and worked as an artist in New England until his death in 1905.
