YOSHITOSHI - Canvas Prints
Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, more commonly referred to as Yoshitoshi, was a Japanese printmaker from Tokyo. He was a highly skilled ukiyo-e wood-block printer and painter. He believed in the traditional process of Japanese printmaking and rejected mass production techniques of the time, such as photography and lithography. Yoshitoshi found inspiration in portraiture and created numerous works of significant historical figures and female figures in everyday life. He played with capturing facial expressions and emotion in his many figure paintings. “Looking Shy, “Looking Hot,” “Looking Tasty,” and “Looking Sleepy” are all key examples of Yoshitoshi’s works.
