AMBROGIO LORENZETTI - Canvas Prints
Ambrogio Lorenzetti was an Italian painter from Siena. His works belong to the Proto-Renaissance era, as well as the Gothic era. Lorenzetti found inspiration from the themes of Byzantine art, and many of his paintings represent allegorical stories, such as his three fresco panels entitled “Allegory of Good and Bad Government.” This was a civic work that demonstrated the struggles of the Italian government and its people at the time, in the 14th century. Lorenzetti’s painting entitled “Annunciation” depicts an angel telling the Virgin Mary of the coming of Jesus. While powerful symbolically, this was also the first known piece of art to use linear point-projection perspective
