FILIPPO LIPPI - Canvas Prints
Filippo Lippi was an Italian painter and Carmelite priest born in Florence. He created his works during the Early Renaissance. Lippi was orphaned as a young child and sent to live in a convent. He was ordained as a friar at around age 19. After choosing not to renew his vows and traveling to Naples, Filippo was captured by Barbary pirates and eventually freed, oddly enough, due to his portrait-sketching skills. He would later go on to create beautiful frescoes depicting religious scenes, such as “Annunciation,” completed in 1450, and “The Stories of St. Stephen and St. John the Baptist.”
