GUIDO RENI - Canvas Prints
Guido Reni was an Italian Baroque painter from Bologna. He found inspiration in ancient mythology, allegorical themes, and religion. Most of Reni’s works depict central religious figures and saints, as well as portraits of Christ throughout his early and adult life. Many times, these solo figures are looking upwards in a devotional pose. Reni believed that painting his subjects in this way reflected their internal desires to connect with God. Examples of this can be seen in the paintings “Saint Sebastian,” “The Penitent Magdalene,” “St. James the Greater,” and “The Rape of Europa.”
