PIETRO DA CORTONA - Canvas Prints
Pietro da Cortona was an Italian artist from Cortona. He was a prominent Baroque painter and architect and was a significant figure in the development and style of Baroque architecture. Cortona was inspired by biblical themes, spirituality, and historical figures. "Romulus and Remus Given Shelter by Faustulus,” "Abduction of the Sabine Women," and "Golden Age" are exceptional examples of Cortona’s ornate style and dramatic coloring of these subjects. Cortona is also remembered for his work with frescoes, specifically, the ceiling frescoes within the main vault of the Palazzo Mattei in Rome.
