JAN VAN KESSEL ELDER - Canvas Prints

Jan van Kessel the Elder was a Flemish painter from Antwerp. His works possess Baroque qualities, yet Van Kessel painted an array of different subjects. He was best known for his genre paintings, depicting landscapes and still life flower arrangements. Van Kessel also created works displaying animal life, birds, insects, marine life, and even allegorical compositions. He was inspired by natural themes that would aid in his allegorical pieces. Among his most successful paintings are “Four Elements,” “Asia,” and “Always Life.”
