VITTORE CARPACCIO
Vittore Carpaccio was a Venetian painter whose works belong to the High Renaissance of the late 15th century. He mostly painted religious and biblical scenes but also found inspiration in depicting historical or mythological figures. Carpaccio was known for his meticulous use of lighting and contrast, as seen in works like “St. Augustine in His Study” and the “Sant' Orsola” polyptych. His 9-panel series entitled “The Legend of Saint Ursula” was his monumental artistic achievement.
